Our Vision Faced with social, environmental, and democratic emergencies, traditional levers for mobilization and action are running out of steam. Raising awareness is not enough. Advocacy efforts are losing momentum. Institutional mechanisms are too often proving ineffective. In a democracy, the law is not a constraint: it is a barrier against arbitrariness and injustice, provided one knows how to use it. Because the law is technical. Too often, it remains inaccessible. It becomes the domain of a few, when it should be a tool for everyone. Intérêt à agir arises precisely from this impasse. Our vision : A strong democracy where the law is not a privilege, but a tool accessible to all, used above all to protect the most vulnerable, with a concern for social and environmental justice. Donate Our actions Strategic Litigation We build rock-solid litigation strategies to support lawyers in transforming cases into landmark legal victories. Legal monitoring We analyze projects, identify legal risks and opportunities and provide the keys to navigate regulatory complexity. Stakeholder training We make expertise accessible by training non-profit organizations on the legal issues of the sector. Multidisciplinary work We organize the provision of high-level multidisciplinary expertise from academics and specialists in certain branches of law; and facilitate work with lawyers willing to commit. Key Figures 21 litigations initiated since its creation +10,000 hours of legal expertise provided +40 non-profit organizations supported Our areas of intervention Social justice Protection of vulnerable populations, fight against discrimination and inequality. Environmental justice Defending the planetary ecosystem and the right to a healthy environment Our actions Stop the Silent Spring Together with the Ligue pour la protection des oiseaux (LPO), we initiated this case in 2021, which calls into question the responsibility of the manufacturers and traders of the pesticide Imidacloprid, responsible for the collapse of bird populations in agricultural environments. Digital Accessibility: Online Shopping Since 2025, the law has mandated digital accessibility for large and medium-sized businesses, but most still ignore this obligation, depriving visually impaired people of their independence. We have taken legal action against four major retailers to put an end to this discrimination. Digital Accessibility: The Tax Website For over 20 years, the law has required the State to make its online services accessible. Yet, the impots.gouv.fr portal remains a major hurdle for the 2 million blind and visually impaired people in France. Intérêt à Agir is supporting the Collectif Français du Handicap Visuel (CFHV) against the French tax authority (DGFiP). Our Victories 2025 In the « Stop the Silent Spring » case, initiated with the LPO (Ligue de protection des oiseaux) in 2021, the French Court of Cassation issued an important ruling on November 13th: it clarifies the starting point for the statute of limitations for ecological damage. The Court held that the statute of limitations began to run as soon as the LPO had « serious, precise, and consistent evidence » allowing it to attribute the collapse of bird populations in agricultural areas to the effects of imidacloprid. This decision undermines the strategy of manufacturers who fund pseudo-scientific studies to sow doubt about the real effects of pesticides. From now on, if there is any doubt, the statute of limitations is extended accordingly! 2024 In November 2024, we achieved a victory with the apiDV association, successfully enforcing for the first time a law passed 20 years prior aimed at making public services accessible to people with disabilities. The State was found liable for the digital inaccessibility of the Pronote software, used in many schools, to visually impaired users. Since then, Index Education, the company that publishes Pronote, has taken steps to make its software more accessible to visually impaired or blind users.
